Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

I am ready to go back, now!

October19

Don: I did, in fact, head back to Panama City. I called Karen during the lonely ride home. She was having a great visit with her sister Laura and Crystal, a family friend! Glad she has her sisters there all week. I will be back before you know it. I need to get a few more of her more talkative friends to visit and/or call during her treatment. There is nothing Karen likes more than deep conversation. I am a man of few words. Any one that wants to help out can just call her cell phone. For the PC people that isn’t even long distance!

Don, I have to say, I am very impressed with you…! I just got finished reading the entire website and some of the things you said made me so glad that Karen has you to lean on. You are right, we folk from Venus don’t want fixes, we want support and an understanding ear to tell all our concerns to.

    Karen,
You are doing a fantastic job of moving forward. I am so proud of you. And I’m super glad that your sisters will be with you for a while. I didn’t know that you could have any visitors other than Don and your folks. I want to visit as soon as your sisters leave. Not that I don’t want to see them but ya’ll need your time together. …And I’m jealous and want you all for myself anyway.

Like I said to Don, I have read all the entries on the website and I was really touched by your faith and believe it or not your strength. Your comment about having the resolve to face the next challenge made me think about the devotion that I heard at my League meeting last month. The verse was in Exodus 16, verse 4 “Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.” This is the time when the Israelites were in the desert for 40 years. God gave them exactly what they needed everyday until they were done with their test.

I’d like to think that you are not being tested because, damnit nobody deserves that sorta thing. But if you are, I do know that God will give you exactly what you need everyday and that through Him you can make it through this!

Well, I better get back to work. They sorta like it when I do some work when they EFT my paycheck. I love you girl. Be strong, stay focused on the goal of getting well. And let me know when your sisters leave so I can have you all to myself!

    Love,
    Lisa Sutton

I wanted to say hello and let you know I am thinking about you. I tried to call but I have the wrong number. (imagine that) Tell Ginny and Laura Hi and just remember God is here for you and with you. Everybody loves you and we are praying with you.
    Your friend always
    Love Pat
