Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

Keeping in touch with Karen

Don: I thought I should take a moment to tell you all a few things about communication with Karen.

Comments posted on the web site will be available to the Public. Karen is very happy at all the notes and prayers she is receiving from friends, family and co-workers.

If you want to be sure that something is not posted on the web site then you should email her. KCornelius@mchsi.com

Flowers are not allowed at the cancer unit but if you desire to send a card the address is:
Shands at the University of Florida
1600 SW Archer Road
Gainesville, FL 32608
352.265.0111

I included the phone number to the hospital and Karen does have her cell phone. She is starting to sleep more than be awake so please don’t take it personal if she can’t talk to you when you call. One of the family will likely answer the phone and we are happy to take messages and let you know how she is doing.

    Karen,

    This is from 2 Samuel 22 – these are some of my favorite verses when I need “Strength” to face things.

    1 David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

    2 He said:
    “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

    3 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,

    my shield and the horn of my salvation. (Strength of my Salvation)

    He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—

    from violent men you save me.

    4 I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,

    and I am saved from my enemies.

    17 “He reached down from on high and took hold of me;

    he drew me out of deep waters.

    18 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,

    from my foes, who were too strong for me.

    19 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,

    but the Lord was my support.

    20 He brought me out into a spacious place;

    he rescued me because he delighted in me.

    Girl just know that God is with you during all this and He loves you very much. I’m with you through this too and I love you too, very much.
    Love,
    Lisa Sutton

    Ginny did indeed make it in today. She had us all laughing as she brought out her goofy hats for Karen to wear. One was a Kermit the Frog. I think Ginny and Laura had conspired on this. When Laura came, she brought family pictures and posted them on the billboard in Karen’s room. That was a warm and considerate touch. Family and friends all caring and supporting one another helps through the rough spots. God bless each and every one of you and keep praying. Karen’s Mom
