Nov 1, my new room
Hi everyone,
As far as the move went, of all the days to get sicker…ughhh! I started to get chills, spiked and mild temp, and my stomach bloated up like a toad frog. I was hurting so bad (It all started getting worse in the night). It feels like I have concrete from the tip of my esophagus all the way down my stomach. So anyway, I moved via wheelchair, with chills, under a pile of blankets, praying my pain medicine would hold up long enough to get to the new room. They put me on dilaudid every two hours for the pain.
Probably one of the worst days so far. They did an abdominal CT (neg), started me back on flagyl and some new antibiotics. I’m not sure why this pain is so persistent, but it probably just goes with the territory, you know, chemo and all.
So, back to the room… This room is amazing! It has a glass window that goes down one complete side like a hotel. I can actually see trees, and people, and buildings, and I even got to see the full moon! It has a futon couch, sconces for lighting… I just love it. This room will help to keep my spirits up.
love all, karen
This new hospital is AMAZING! The views from each room and also from the halls. The window shades open and close electrically. Karen’s room is large and roomy, with Corriane counter tops. A real handicapped equipped restroom. The room has a built in DVD with the tv. The colors of the room are creme and restful greens. From what we understand, the air filtration is state of the art technology. All I know is that it is real quiet, a change from the last room. Ken and I went to the cafe on the 3rd flloor. It had a hot bar, a pizza parlor, salads and deli sandwiches. We ate our lunch on a large outdoor patio overlooking a landscaped park atmosphere. This is a real beautiful hospital.
hey karen we are constantly praying for you and your precious family. i really appreciate you sharing your story with everyone its is very encouraging and uplifting to witness your courage and strength through this challenging time. stand firm and strong in gods love for you and know that he will never give you anything that you cant handle. he always gives us what we need to get through this journey. god bless you sister.
ps. one of my friends went to harding to visit and she said she saw randy and that he is doing so good and looks wonderful.
Good Morning Karen,
It was so GREAT to get to visit with you guys Wednesday and Saturday. Karen, I must say you are AMAZING! Your spirit and wit and beauty have not been dulled by this experience. Even while feeling a little “yucky” your smile still radiates such Grace. Glad you’re in your new room and can see the outdoors… even the full moon! I must also comment on Don… He is just as AMAZING as you are. I cannot even think of words right now that can describe the love and emotion showing in his eyes when he looks at you. He is one of the Angels God has placed here. Hope the sun is shining there today and that today is a GOOD day for you and for all the friends you have made there.
Robin.
I’m glad you’re in such a nice room now! It sounds like it’s SO very much nicer than the old building. I am sorry you felt so bad yesterday and hope today is better for you.
I love the picture Don posted yesterday, too — you are absolutely beautiful.
There is so much I want to say but the words look so inadequate when I see them in print! I look forward to seeing you in person next week. I love you, girlfriend – don’t ever forget it! And I’ll still keep popping in and writing here, too. Just because they look inadequate to me doesn’t mean they will to you so I’ll try to write more later. XOXOXO
Karen, I posted under fashion statment….didn’t think of posting under this note. I hope you are feeling better today…. 🙂 love you Michele

Karen, I am so excited to come and see you…Next weekend! I miss you! I had severe pain in my stomach this morning and tenderness this afternoon….would blame it on the asparagus, but I think it was sympathy pains. I wish I could take your pain away. He has stuck by you through thick and thin….for better or worse…..and Don….that’s all you get:) hope you like. I am sure I will never live down the day I said something nice….rub it in….go ahead, but seriosly…..THANK YOU Brother-in-law. Love you Karen…my sister and friend.
