Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

Yipee! I’m home

November9

Guys, you are all so great!  I am so happy!!!!   For some reason all I can do I cry.  I have my beautiful boys at my sides, and my parents have stayed with me during the day.  Don was able to go to work today, and mom and dad carted me all over town taking care of loose ends.  I wish I could see all of you, and you have all lifted my spirits so much.  Please keep up the contact!  Please know how happy I am to have my babies with me.  wow!   Talk about priorities.   I don’t want to be anywhere but where they are!!!!!!!!!  We have made some wonderful karaoke songs on free Internet, including a duet of Dylan and I we put on facebook.  I think it is on Don’s page, but all his friends can see it, so if you are interested and can’t find it, ask him.  I’m pretty much a computer dummy.  If it’s broken I have to wait for him.  uh oh, I’m missing Wii Beatles rock band.  I’m one of the lead guitarists, and sometimes, one of the worst singers possible.  I love this.  Praise God for time off from Chemo and Bone marrow biopsies!!  I love you all!  Thanks for all the happiness, prayers, and encouragement.  keep it up.  pray for my strength. no more tears, love Karen

You sound so wonderful. Makes me very happy. I’m sure those boys are just as happy to be at your side as you are to have them there. I gotta check on that Facebook, sounds truly neat. I’m exceptionally not literate there, but am trying to learn more about Facebook.
So very glad you are home and doing so well. May the good Lord continue to bless my girl. Love you.

Rock on, Karen! LOL! We have the country music track for Rock Band; unfortunately, our drums are broken. The yellow drum doesn’t work any more so if we try to play drums on anything but Rock Band II (where we can put on no-fail) we fail out. Argh! Maybe we can get new Wii Rock Band drums for Christmas. ;-D

I know you are enjoying your boys. I guess Ida was a bit of a blessing since she ensured the boys have the day off of school. What’s a bit of rain when you have 2 rays of sunshine with you who are thrilled to be spending time with their mom?

    Love ya!

Karen I wanted to let you know they are having annual enrollment this week at work…they are offering cancer insurance even if you have cancer you and Don should check into it. I don’t know if it will be something you are interested in but I did not want you to miss the window to sign up if you are interested.
I am so glad you are home and with your kids!
    Love you Niki

Just wanted to let you know that I checked on your mail for you, and it had not arrived by 2pm today. Hopefully it will arrive by Thursday or Friday. I am glad you are having a good break from us here in Gainesville. I will have a plan for you hopefully by the end of the week. My goal is to let you stay home until after the Thanksgiving holiday, but that will be up to Dr. H. I miss our daily chats, but am so happy for you and your family that you are home with them. See you in a few days. Please know that you can call me if you need anything! Nurse Leslie 🙂
