Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

friday at shands

March12

hi everyone.  I am doing good with the chemo.   No issues so far…  One more round   of chemo on saturday and then after sunday dose, I should be discharged.  I will then head to the camper for the next 2 weeks of clinic.  ughh.

Mom, stayed with me last night so that was nice, and Don gets to come in for the weekend tonight.  he will get here around 10pm or so.  can’t wait.

I am already missing family and home…but this is the last chemo round before a possible transplant so we are nearing the finish line.  Facebook has been awesome and I have been catching up with alot of my friends.  something I don’t do much of when I’m at home.  it really helps pass the time here in the hospital.

life can sometimes be really hard,  but its the little things that really matter…love, friendship, laughter, sunshine, and warm breezes are some of my favorites.  also the animals God blesses us with.  my dogs love me unconditionally!  love it!

love you guys

    Hi my dear Karen,
Glad you are doing so well with this round of Chemo. I have not been checking as often, ’cause have had a tiring (but fun) week. The kids were great and did fun things like fly kites, skate, bowl, beach and movies. Stayed home a lot resting or playing games. Not anything like the usual spring breakers we see. They left about a half hour ago for Memphis. They will stay at Nina’s house tonight and on to Harding tomorrow. They were all very impressed with you. Randy was quite proud of his Mother. And why wouldn’t he be, you are pretty, look like his sister and are sweet as can be.
I know you will have a good weekend with Don there, so glad he can make it on weekends. I know you enjoyed your Mom staying with you on Thursday night. I’m sure she enjoyed it, too.
You know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers cause I love you very much! God Bless.

    Karen,
I only met you briefy at the office and I try to respect Don’s wish for some privacy during a trying time. However from the few times I have visited your blog and met you in personI can tell you are a person of courage. Do you think you have found a donor match yet? I know Theresa Dyer was getting her donor match updated just before my severance with BCAR. Wishing you all the best, and good luck to Don in his new AE dealings.
Hope the kids are doing OK with this!!
My prayers be with you all.
