How are you doing?
Don: We really appreciate all the kindness and prayers that keep coming our way. Everyone we see naturally asks, “How are you doing?” Things are going pretty well. We went to Shands yesterday after a two week break. Our next trip is not for three weeks! They took her off the steroids completely yesterday. That is a goal we have been wanting to reach. Now we just need to watch and see how her body does until the next appointment. She still has a couple of medications that she is on. If she does well this time we may be able to make changes to the remain drugs next time.
Our biggest issue now is the fact that this seems to be never ending! The challenge originally was to stay alive. Now it is to get back to life!! With the weakness and almost constant aches and pains it is very hard to stay positive and push ourselves to try to get her out of the house. We are going to make a list of places to go. Thinking mostly of places that do require some walking and are within about 20 minutes drive time. The barn, St. Andrews State Park, Under the Oaks and places like that are where we are going to start. We are wanting to build up to getting out to see Rocky’s show and Tony Vegas. Both of which we have done in the past and really enjoyed. Where is your favorite quiet place to go? It might give us some other ideas.
WHAT WONDERFULL NEWS KAREN! PROGRESS IS PROGRESS….BABY STEPS EVRYDAY. ANYTIME YOU WANT TO COME SIT BY THE POND YOU KNOW YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME HERE. ITS PEACEFULL AND NOT TOO FAR FROM HOME. THERE IS A SMALL BOAT AND FISHIN’ POLES…PLENTY OF FISH JUST WAITING. WATER IS CLEAR AND CLEAN. THE BOYS ARE AT THE BARN… MY HOUSE IS YOURS …YOU NAME IT YOU HAVE GOT IT! I WILL TRY TO THINK ABOUT SOME OTHER PLACES THAT AREN’T TOO FAR. ALTHOUGH WE TEND TO STAY CLOSE TO HOME.
WE CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU CLOSE IN PRAYER…YOU JUST STAY FOCUSED AND STRONG …YOU HAVE ALOT OF THINGS IN FRONT OF YOU TO DO YET GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU GIRLFRIEND….COWGIRL UP

Well, y’all could come over for a visit with me! I’m not getting out much either (doctor’s orders to avoid crowds) but we could walk out and see the horses. Just keep in mind my house isn’t pristine since I’m trying real hard not to overdo it. I’ve had lots of help from my parents and friends from church but since we got home, we’ve added a bit of clutter . . .
HEY MS. KAREN ! ITS SUNDAY AND HERE IN THE SANDHILLS THE SEASONS HAVE FORGOT WHERE THEY WERE HEADED!!! ITS WARM AGAIN 🙁 I WAS ENJOYING THE COOLER WEATHER.ABLE TO RIDE AND NOT BURN OUT. I DID THE FIRST DAY OF RODEO RIDE AND IT WAS JUST A AWESOME DAY WEATHER WISE. HAD SOME SOLITARY MOMENTS IN SOME PEACEFULL PLACES ON HORSEBACK AND DID SOME PRAYING FOR YOU. NEXT YEAR IS YOUR YEAR TO DO AT LEAST A DAY.

Hello,
I tried to send a message a few weeks ago but it appears we had some “corrupted files” as the tech put it so I am not sure how much got out. If Karen is feeling well enough for short trips what about the Jazz Festival by the Bay? I am making plans to meet up with Diane (from BCAR) and it is free and no restrictions as to times etc. Spoke to Vince Price, he turned us on to it last year and it was fun and as mellow as you wanted it to be. Glad to hear Karens health is getting better and sorry (not!) to hear you are no longer working for that Nazi Roseanne at BCAR.
How is Mike doing? I have no contact info for him, and I am certainly not going to try thru the office.
