Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

thursday nite

January21

All is well.  just getting another round of chemo.  Can’t wait for friday nite when Don can be here.  Time can drag on.

It looks like I am getting closer to a bone marrow transplant.  They have located an awesome 10 out of 10 donor and are wanting to start doing some sort of work up.  I just switched to Cobra with my insurance company so we are experiencing a few hiccups.  Hopefully all will work out soon and we can get this show on the road.  They would like to start in 4-6 weeks I have been told.  We should have more details soon.

Keep praying.  I have a lot to still get through.  Mom and Dad and my whole family have been so supportive.  I want thank everyone who is helping to take care of all my animals.  I know I don’t have to worry about them thanks to you guys.

That’s exciting news about the donor! What a wonderful answer to prayer! We’ll pray that the COBRA hiccups smooth out and then “full steam ahead” so we can get you better and home again. 😀

Have you listened to the CDs yet? What do you think? I know the “surprise” songs one the one CD were probably a bit of a surprise but the boys absolutely LOVE those songs (Monster and Hero, both by Skillet, as well as Keys to the Kingdom by Group One Crew). For that matter, so do I! Anyway other songs on the CDs are also favorites of mine and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Don’t forget to pop in on Equi-Friends! I love you girl, and don’t you forget it!

    Dear K~

I just wanted you to know that I have finally caught up and read your entire bog. I didnt want to comment or anything untilI had a chance to read all. I must be honest I’ve balled quite a bit. But you are such a blessing and have such an amazing faith. And an amazing husband and family. I feel so sure of your recovery and of God’s hand upon you. I am praying over your donor and hope all goes well with that. I’ve missed seeing you at basketball. The boys actually beat the black team last week and we are in the winners cirlcle. Yeah! Looking forward to seeing you soon. Hope you are feeling good today. Lots of love~Annie

Glad things are moving forward. I don’t know that much about the treatments you are going through but I am sure it is very stressful. You are so strong and postive! I know you will do well and be stronger than ever after all of this!
You are going to be the most empathetic nurse that has ever been when you come back ( and you will come back) It may be a while but you will be well again. Everything happens for a reason… We don’t know at the time what it is but eventually it will all make sense.
I love you and miss you Niki
