Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

thursday, still no news

February11

Hi everyone,

I am still at Shands.  I am feeling really good and all my blood counts are improving.  I am still receiving lots of antibiotics through IV while we wait for the results of the blood cultures.  We may get to go home friday or saturday.  If we are lucky.  I am very ready to go home and am getting pretty grouchy.  we have alot of student doctors and nurses on this floor, so I am getting a little more attention then I want right now.

Still no good news on the transplant other than we have a donor that is ready to go.  My insurance is still a problem.  Need to pray and trust God on this one.  Trying not to get down…all will work out.  I just need to go home for a little while and be with me family…

love karen

It will all work out Karen! I can’t even imagine the frustration, but you CAN and will make it through this test as well! I will pray for time home with your family and for the insurance kinks to work out! It is awesome that you do have a donor ready, soon you will be receiving! Keep your head up!

    Dearest One,
Hope that by the time you read this you will be home with your family. I know that is the medicine you need right now, and I pray it is soon (if not already) forthcoming. Since the good Lord has richly blessed us with a donor, we are confident the insurance issue will also be resolved satisfactorily. Of course those student health care professionals are giving you lots of attention. Not many of their patients are as cute and sweet as our Karen!
Thinking of you with lots of Love and Prayers.
    Gale

Hi sweetheart,I know you will be home real soon. Having spent more than my share of time in the hospital,I know that one thing you don’t get is rest. The aids used to come in about 3 in the am and request to take vitals for the am. Ha!Ha! I do know though that Shands knows you and will treat you right, then you can have a nice long rest at home.Same for Mom and Pop.God bless you all and give you travelers protection for your trip home.Give the kids and Don love from their ole Auntie M,put your arm around yourself and give a big squeeze.Love You Much!!!!
