Karen's Day at Shands

Karen wanted a place for family and friends to be able to see how she is doing each day at Shands. This is how she is making that happen.

we’re back online!

January27

Hi everyone.  Wi fi works again.  We are enjoying camper life.  I have been trying out a couple of recipes one of the nurses gave me (peach cobbler and banana bread).  I’m going to make some great brownies this weekend when my kids are here.  We are continuing to take daily walks and the weather has been really pretty.  I’m feeling very good right now. Nothing but a bad taste in my mouth, which is easily fixed by eating stuff 🙂

I wish there was no such thing as cancer of any kind.  My friend Renee is back here at shands after being told she may not be in remission anymore.  She has progressed about the same as me, up to this point so I am really upset.  She needs to be in remission and then get a transplant!  She is the same age as me and is a real fun, happy girl.  I enjoy her so much.  We were hoping to get our transplants at the same time.  Please pray that she will get back into remission. I will get to see her on thursday when I go to clinic.

love karen

One day at a time sweet Jesus…that’s all I am asking of you…Just teach me to pray and do everyday…the things that you’d have me do…I’m only human…I’m just a woman…Lord teach me to pray and do everyday the things you’d have me do! I will keep Renee in my prayers! And I pray that you stay in remission so that we can get this transplant and be cured! I love you soooooo much! Please keep your chin up and stay focused and speak blessing about the things that God has already done! We are so fortunate…let’s rejoice in today! Love Gin

    Dearest One,
This may very well be a minor setback. We will be praying for Renee and continue praying for you. The Lord has heard us and has blessed us. That knowledge is so comforting. So, just keep that pretty chin up and have a great weekend with your family.
    Love you very much, Gale
